Rose Ventimiglia

November 14, 1928 ~ March 22, 2018 (age 89)

Rose Enea Ventimiglia, 88, joined her family in heaven on Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was surrounded by her loving family on earth at Stanford University Hospital following a brief illness. 
Rose was born on November 14, 1929 in Monterey, CA. She is preceded in death by her parents, Benny and Mary Enea, and siblings, Mary James, and Salvatore Enea, and her son in law, Jose Inez Gomez. Rose is survived by her brothers Tom and Benny Enea. She is survived by her children: Salvatore (Skip) Ventimiglia (Adex), Phyllis Nicholas, (Karl), and Cathy Ann Gomez, her grandchildren; Karyn, Judy, Kit, Jessica, Gina, Joey, Samantha, and Widian Alfa, along with her great grandchildren,; Camden, Emily, and Savannah, and many nieces and nephews.
Rose worked as a young girl at the old Del Monte Hotel, and later packed tuna and sardines at various canneries on Cannery Row, and most recently at a resale children’s boutique in Pacific Grove. Her passion was volunteering for the various organizations for which she belonged including, the Italian Catholic Federation, Festa Italia, and The Catholic Daughters of The Americas. Her past organizations were the Sons of Italy and the Altar Society. She loved playing and teaching others how to play bocce ball. Rose was a giving and loving mother with an incredible zest for life. As those who knew her will attest that she lived a rich, and fulfilled life while giving joy to all those around her. She will be forever missed by her family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to San Carlos Cathedral.
A recitation of the rosary will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 9:30AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM at San Carlos Cathedral, 500 Church St., Monterey.  Private committal will follow at San Carlos Cemetery.
