Ramon Antonio Santiago

March 12, 1925 ~ April 5, 2018 (age 93)

Ramon A. Santiago passed away peacefully at home with family by his side. Born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, he served in the US Army as Sergeant 1st Class, retiring in 1968. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He was decorated for valor with a Silver Star and Bronze Star. Ramon was also the recipient of two Purple Heart Medals awarded for injury in the line of duty. He retired after 26 years of service in the military, and settled on the Monterey Peninsula with his wife, Marta, and their three sons. He later worked at the Ft. Ord Commissary for 20 years. Ramon loved family barbeques, watching baseball and fishing, he also enjoyed playing dominoes with his friends. 
Ramon is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marta; his sons, Ramon (Vicki), Carlos (Cathy) and Kennedy (Michelle); his grandsons Anthony, Daniel, and Joshua and granddaughter Ashley Santiago.
Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 11:00am. at the Santa Rosalia Chapel within San Carlos Cemetery, Monterey.
