Ralph Eugene Lamar

April 15, 1929 ~ November 14, 2018 (age 89)

Ralph Eugene Lamar, 89, died peacefully at his home in Corral de Tierra on November 14, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. 
Born April 15, 1929 in Ashley, IL to Ralph and Helen Lamar.  Ralph was the 2nd son of 5 boys born to Ralph and Helen.  He is proceeded in death by his parents, his eldest brother Jerry and his younger brother Allen (Manley) Lamar. 
Ralph joined the Army in 1947, and was sent to Korea on his first tour of duty. He then was stationed as an MP in Vienna, Austria, where he met the love of his life, Margaret.  They were married in 1952 and have been married for 66 years.
During his tenure in the Army, Ralph was stationed throughout the U.S., Germany, France, Korea and Vietnam. In 1960 Ralph and his family were transferred to Fort Ord, and we were one of the last families to leave when Ralph was sent to Vietnam in 1966.  Because the Peninsula felt  like home, Ralph retired here in 1967.  Ralph then entered his second career in the Hospitality Industry, including working at the Beach & Tennis Club, The Lodge at Pebble Beach and the Pine Inn he became a Golf Marshall at Pebble Beach until he finally retired at the young age of 80 years.
Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife, Margaret, daughters: Elizabeth Creecy (Bill), Arlene Gordon (Bobby) and son Robert (Jim) Lamar, 2 granddaughters: Lauren Creecy (Todd) and Megan Herman (Stephen) and 2 great grandsons, of whom he was very proud of. 
Ralph is survived by his 2 brothers: Jim and Paul Lamar and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held at a later scheduled date and he will be interred at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Fort Ord.  Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Ralph’s name.
