Matthew Cervelli

September 22, 1950 ~ July 3, 2018 (age 67)

The fourth child born to Peg and Gene Cervelli of San Francisco he is survived by his older siblings Kathie,Gene, and Pat as well as his younger siblings Mark and Francesca.
A native San Franciscan Matthew lived one block from Golden Gate Park and entertained his loved ones with countless tales from growing up in a wonderful family neighborhood.
By his side as he crossed over were his 28 year old son Angelo Valentino Cervelli and his wife Georgene Louise Rugg Cervelli. His home for the past year has been beneath an oak forest up Pine Canyon in Salinas.
His pride at having attended Lowell High School, being elected to Boys State, working at Samuel’s Jewelry store with fine gems and working at The Bohemian Grove up the Russian River in summer entertained friends for years.
Matthew loved to talk on the phone. He could accomplish more with his ability to debate and charm and used his powerful voice as his greatest skill.
His passion for music led him into a brief career as Tahoe Productions, a band management company with his childhood friend Jim Fields.
He loved The San Francisco Giants, The Grateful Dead,Lake Tahoe and valued timeless friendships more than money.
By selling cars he lived his dream of planting, harvesting, and bottling his very own vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon with his familyname on the label along with one of his wife’s original watercolors.
Calls from Tennessee,North Carolina,Louisiana,Hawaii,Washington State and of course his native California have been coming in for weeks wishing him safe journey.
He is much loved and is deeply missed but we all know he has joined friends eager to greet him as well as family on the other side as well.
To his great pleasure he got to hear recordings of The Grateful Deads recent concert with young John Mayer taking Jerry Garcia’s place.
