Mary Yokomizo

July 19, 1925 ~ March 26, 2018 (age 92)

Mary Yokomizo died peacefully and quietly at home with her family beside her. She was 92. Mary was born in Sumner, Washington to Yosematsu Inouye and Shizu Yamamoto. She was the youngest of four children.

She graduated high school while in the internment camps in Idaho. About that time she met and later married Yoshio “Doc” Yokomizo who had joined the Army and fought in the distinguished 442nd Infantry earning a Silver Star and Purple Heart. After the War they moved to the Monterey Peninsula. Mary had a long career in the banking industry. She was an operations officer for several banks. After retiring from banking, she volunteered for the Community Hospital for 20 years and the AT&T for 30 years.

She is predeceased by her husband, “Doc” Yokomizo, her two brothers, Jim and Tom and a sister, Yuki and a son, Kenneth. She leaves behind a daughter, Sherrie McCullough (Tom) and son Steven Yokomizo (Valerie) and grandson Sean Yokomizo (Stacey) and two great grandchildren, Alexandra and Katherine and a step-son Stuart Williams. A Private family gathering will take place on April 8th.

In lieu of flowers, the family asked that donations be made to the SPCA for Monterey County, P.O. Box
3058, Monterey, CA 93942. She brought a lot of sunshine to many who knew her. We
are all blessed to have such a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She will
be greatly missed.
